Dr. Roman Barak
Founder of MEDUNION
Dr. Roman Barak is an Israeli internist based in Haifa with more than three decades of clinical and international medical experience. Born in Tashkent and a graduate of the Tashkent Medical Institute, he repatriated to Israel early in his career and went on to lead the Horev Medical Center, a private multidisciplinary clinic and international patient coordination service working alongside Israel's leading hospitals.
Over the past two decades, Dr. Barak has built his career around a single conviction: that patients everywhere deserve access to the best medical minds, regardless of where they live. He has led medical delegations and physician exchange programs across Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Russia, including a 2015 cooperation memorandum with the city of Kharkiv and humanitarian consultation missions that have served hundreds of patients. In 2014, he served as coordinating physician for the treatment of Kharkiv mayor Gennadiy Kernes in Israel, a case that drew international attention.
In 2000, Dr. Barak founded the Golden Hippocrates International Medical Award, whose ceremonies have honored some of the most distinguished figures in world medicine, including Michael DeBakey, Alain Carpentier, Magdi Yacoub, and Leo Bockeria. A frequent lecturer and media commentator on preventive screening, longevity, and the role of artificial intelligence in medicine, he founded MEDUNION to bring expert medical opinion and care within reach of every patient.
